Maintaining Your Vehicle

Review your Owner's Manual. Not every vehicle is the same and it is important to know what your car's manufacturer recommends when is comes to periodic maintenance and tune-ups. If you don't have a manual, dealerships can usually provide one for a small fee.

Keep records of your repairs and servicing. This will give your mechanic a snapshot of the car's history and may help generate a higher trade-in or resale value.

Protect your car's exterior from weather wear and tear by washing it regularly and giving it a coat of wax when water stops beading on the painted surfaces.

Replace the air filter about every two months or when dirty. This protects the engine from airborne contamination.

Check your battery cables every 3,000 miles along with your oil change. Cables should be free of corrosion and make good contact to functions properly. Older batteries may need water.

Check your belts monthly or every 500 miles along with fluid checks. Replace if worn, cracked, glazed or frayed.

Check your coolant/antifreeze monthly or every 500 miles. Be sure to check it before the harsh Summer and Winter months. This is crucial in preventing engine rust and cooling system water from freezing or boiling over.

Have your brakes checked yearly or as needed for high mileage vehicles. If you live in hilly terrain, check your brakes at least every six-months. Ask your automotive technician about checking the wheel bearings during the brake check.

Rotate your tires every 5,000 miles. If you car pulls in one direction or wanders you may need an alignment or suspension and/or steering repair. If your tires wear unevenly or have a scalloped or cupped shape, you may need to replace shocks or struts. Have them checked at every oil change.

If we fix it...estimates are free!

Courtesy Car Care

Courtesy Car Care

Often discovering what is wrong with your car is a tedious and labor intensive process. Courtesy Car Care will take the time and effort needed to assure your safe motoring experience. We only charge for estimates when we do not actually repair your vehicle. We cannot quote prices over the phone and beware of those that do. For example, it is impossible to offer a $99.00 brake service that covers all repairs. The automotive repair industry is full of variables and we must see you car to diagnose the problem. Complex diagnostics are charged at a standard hourly rate. We will always give you a written estimate of the parts and labor needed to completely repair or maintain your car. If we find another problem during the course of the repair, we will contact you, explain the problem with repair options, and complete an estimate and work order for the additional repairs. We always keep worn parts to show our clients where the problems were and educate motorists on preventative maintainence to avoid unecessary repairs in the future.
